VISION THERAPY AND VISUAL REHABILITATIVE SERVICES
Vision Therapy is an individualized and guided treatment program to help patients with visual-motor issues, visual perceptual difficulties, balance or dizziness complaints or post traumatic injuries (ex: head trauma from a motor vehicle accident, work related accident or stroke / aneurism). The therapy is customized and designed to help control:
- Eye coordination (ability to move and coordinate the movement of the two eyes)
- Ocular alignment (ability to have the two eyes remain aligned with one another)
- Eye movement (ability to make a smooth eye movement as when you watch a moving image or a rapid eye movement when looking from one part of a scene to another)
- Eye focusing (ability to shift your focus from near to far or far to near as well as sustaining your focus while reading)
- Visual field defects (ability to learn to scan and ambulate when part of your visual world is missing)
- Visual processing (ability for the brain to process, interpret and understand the world around us. This is also an important area in learning to read and recognize letters and words)
Eye Vision Associates is very lucky to have TWO Certified Optometric Vision Therapists (COVTs) in our office:
- Jo-Ann Basso
- Marybeth Asbell
